Dave has been a Licensed Peace Officer and Special Agent in North Dakota, Minnesota, and Kansas for 22 years and has been a Police Trainer specializing in the areas of Drug Enforcement, Use of Force, Firearms, Legal Liabilities, Pursuit Training, Patrol Level Tactical Operations, and Basic/Advanced/HRT Tactical Ops for the last twenty years.
Dave has been a Lead Trainer with his department and holds a B.A. in Criminal Justice from Bemidji State University. Dave has approximately 7,000 hours of in-class instructional time and has extensive experience in lesson plan research and the development of training programs. He has been the Administrative Director for Dakota County Technical College's Customized Law Enforcement and Emergency Response Training programs. Dave has received specialized training from numerous Federal (Department of Justice), State agencies (Bureau of Criminal Investigation), and specialized tactical training programs around the United States.
SGT. BRAD HAZELETT
Brad has been a St. Paul Police officer for the past 13 years where he spent 6 years on patrol, the last 7 years being in street level narcotics. He is an instructor on the SPPD SWAT team and a SWAT sniper. Brad has executed over 400 narcotics and weapons search warrants. He was awarded the department’s “Top Gun” recognition in 2007. He is an active instructor in Use of Force/Firearms, Active Shooter, and Officer Survival for the SPPD, and is a certified Glock and Colt AR15 / M16 armorer.
Prior to SPPD, Brad served for 14 years as an infantryman in the Marine Corps and Army National Guard. As an active duty Marine, Brad saw combat as a fire team leader in Desert Storm. In the Minnesota National Guard, Brad was a platoon sergeant and served as a Master Gunner. His duties as the Master Gunner included teaching soldiers all facets of marksmanship and gunfighting, including the use of red dot sights and night vision optics to increase battlefield lethality. Brad attended the Army National Guard Scout Sniper School in Arkansas and returned to the school as an instructor.
Brad has been a lead instructor for A&S for the past 10 years. He teaches all aspects of firearms: pistol, carbine, shotgun, subgun, and precision rifle. Brad is a certified Rappel Master and a Less Lethal / Chemical Munitions instructor. He also instructs courses in Tactical Operations in Rural Terrain, Basic and Advanced Scout Sniper, Basic and Advanced SWAT, and is a Patrol Rifle / Carbine Instructor, Shotgun Instructor, and Shoothouse Instructor.
CPL. MATT BECKMAN
Matt has been a peace officer in the State of Minnesota since 1996 serving in the capacity of patrol deputy, SWAT team operator, and instructor
specializing in the areas of defensive tactics, firearms, and tactical operations. Matt is currently serving with the Chisago County Sheriff’s Office where he is assigned to the patrol division. Matt is Chisago County's SWAT team leader and primary use of force firearms instructor.
Matt has received extensive training and experience in law enforcement patrol, and tactical team operations. He provides instructional training to law enforcement officers, security officers, military personal, and private citizens in the aspect of firearms, use of force, patrol operations, tactical team operations, and legal liabilities.
JARROD KUNZE
Jarrod is a patrol officer with the Minneapolis Police Dept. and has served in the U.S. Army Infantry for 16 years. During his service in the U.S. Army he had five real world deployments, two of which were tours in Iraq where he served as the company sniper.
Jarrod has a deep base of firearms experience and is a certified instructor in Close Quarter Battle (CQB), NRA Basic Pistol, and Military Operations on Urban Terrain (M.O.U.T.). He has taught familiarization courses in Heavy and Light Machine gun, M16 rifle, and Sniper rifle.
JUSTIN WOOD
Justin is currently a deputy working Investigations for the Chisago County Sheriff's Office, and is the assistant Team Leader for the Chisago County Tactical Team. Justin worked as a deputy in King County, WA prior to employment with Chisago County.
He is a Use of Force/Firearms, and SWAT instructor.
MAX YAKOVLEV
Max is an 8 year veteran of the Burnsville Police Department and holds a M.A. in Criminal Justice Leadership from Concordia University in St. Paul, MN. Prior to his current assignment as a property crimes investigator, he was a patrol officer and CSO. Additionaly, his present duties include membership on the city’s Emergency Action Group as a key member of their tactical entry team, and he is a member of the Gang Intelligence Unit with a focus on East African groups. He is also a bike patrol officer and FTO.
Max is a Use of Force/Firearms instructor, ASR instructor, ASP instructor, and L.O.C.K.U.P. instructor. He is a 3rd degree black belt with 13 years of experience in martial arts comprised of kickboxing, ground fighting, and wrestling. Additionally, Max speaks fluent Russian and is well versed in Belarusian and Polish.
KEVIN CARLSON
Kevin is a Deputy with the Isanti County Sheriff’s Department, and a member of the department's SRT (Special Response Team). He is a certified MP-5 and M-16 SMG Instructor. Kevin is a certified Use of Force and Firearms Instructor with A&S.
JASON BRUBAKER
Jason is Police Officer with the St. Paul Police Department. He has extensive patrol and special ops experience in street crimes operations and enforcement. Jason is an instructor in basic and advanced tactical operations.
CDR. AXEL HENRY
Axel is a Commander with the St. Paul Police Department in patrol level operations. He is a certified Use of Force and Firearms instructor and a specialist in Close Quarter Combat and Ground Fighting tactics.
